GALLERY: Alberton High learners produce 179 distinctions

In total, the class of 2019 has produced 179 distinctions compared to 130 distinctions, which were attained by the class of 2018.

The school’s principal, Jannie Olivier, expressed his gratitude after the learners attained more than 60% averages in seven subjects.

The subjects include English, Afrikaans, mathematical literacy, life orientation, hospitality studies, accounting and tourism.

The school’s cream of the crop include Lavashri Nadan who got seven distinctions with a 90.9% average and was the school’s overall best performing learner.

She was followed by 19-year-old Shankar Palamootil who also received a bachelor’s pass with seven distinctions with an 89.4% average.

Ntanga Neleumbeni received a bachelor’s pass with five distinctions and an 84.6% average, while Leigh Mogable got six distinctions with an 84.3% average.

Naledi Moabi excelled with six distinctions on 83.4% average, Victoria McBride attaining a bachelor’s pass with five distinctions and an 83.3% average.

Tracey Lynch also aced her subjects by getting five distinctions with an 83.1% average, followed by Leandri Buitendag who received five distinctions with 82.3% average.

Troy Coetzer was among those who shone with five distinctions and with 82% average, with Christi Moodley who got five distinctions and an 82% average.

Kyle Goosen also got a bachelor’s pass with five distinctions and an 81.1% average alongside Jordyn Wilke who also got five distinctions and an 80.1% average.

Nadan said the future looked bright for her.

“I am very proud of my results and I believe my whole year’s hard work paid off pretty well. I will be studying actuarial science at the University of Witwatersrand. To get to where I am, I sacrificed a lot and kept studying consistently,” she said.
