A delightful senior’s lunch to celebrate Christmas at Turn ’n Tender Bassonia

Community treats seniors to a Christmas lunch.

Ward 23’s Christmas lunch, initiated by Councillor Sarah Wissler and Inge Prince, was held on December 17 at Turn ’n Tender Bassonia. The aim of the lunch was to get pensioners together, especially those who may not see family on Christmas Day, those who are lonely, or suffer from bereavement.

They wanted to create a special lunch where pensioners were not only treated to a delicious meal but also a grocery hamper.

Pensioners will also have a special Christmas lunch delivered to their homes on Christmas Eve.

About 80 seniors came together to celebrate the afternoon. “We wanted to do something to say thank you and give back to the backbone of the country,” Anthea Sam, one of the organisers, said.

The Glenvista Community Forum was started in 2008 as a means to bring unity to the community, to understand the diverse residents and bring effective services to the residents.

In collaboration with Wissler, the forum aims to serve the community in a more active manner from 2020

The Community Police Forum and Community Forum are separate legal entities in the community.

Projects for the Glenvista Community Forum include all aspects of a community namely, currently understanding and accepting the diverse residents in the community, seniors, youth, crime prevention, and any other aspect that exists within in the community.

They engage all stakeholders of the community to bring better services to the residents.
