Biker arrested for clocking 198km/h in Alberton

The rider of this motorcycle was caught doing 198km/h, in Alberton area on December 1.

Thirty people were arrested in the Benoni, Boksburg, Bedfordview and Alberton areas over the weekend of November 29 and December 1 for driving while intoxicated and for exceeding the stipulated speed limit.

This arrests were made by EMPD’s Benoni precinct and Speed Enforcement Unit Officers. From Friday to Saturday between 6pm and 2am, 24 male drivers between the ages of 29 and 52 were arrested in the Benoni area.

In the Alberton area three motorists between the ages of 28 and 44, without any reason for speeding, caught doing between 164km/h and 166km/h on the throughway requiring 120km/h on the N3 freeway direction south by the Grey Avenue onramp.

Another two motorists were arrested on December 1 on the N12 freeway direction east by R59 bridge. A 31-year old male Honda motorcycle rider, with a female passenger, was apprehended for clocking 198km/h instead of 120km/h. The other male driver who was caught doing 163km/h in a Mazda 2, had no reason for speeding. Both offenders were escorted to Alberton Police Station.

On December 1 between 5am and 7am in the Bedfordview area, on the N12 freeway direction west between Edenvale onramp and Gillooly’s Interchange, members enforcing speed stopped and locked up a 47-year old male driving a VolksWagen Citi Golf for clocking 174km/h on the 120km/h zone, citing he was late for work. The speeder was marched to Bedfordview Police Station.

The arrested thirty (30) suspects are expected to appear in Benoni, Palmridge and Germiston magistrate’s courts soon.
