Stepping Stone Hospice to host palliative care course

Stepping Stone Hospice is, therefore, hosting a five-day Introduction to Palliative Care course in November.

Palliative Care has now been introduced into the National Health Care System.

More and more people, whether in their workplace or because of personal circumstances, now want to learn the skills around providing palliative care.

Stepping Stone Hospice is, therefore, hosting a five-day Introduction to Palliative Care course in November and you are more than welcome to register.

It is a 40-hour course running over five days, and on the successful completion of the course, a certificate of completion will be issued.

Topics to be covered over the five days include:

ā€¢ Principles of palliative care and palliative care and ethics and end-of-life decision-making

ā€¢ Communication skills and the team and family

ā€¢ Pain assessment and management and other symptom management

ā€¢ Culture, spirituality, sexuality care of the caregiver

ā€¢ Loss, grief and bereavement care of the caregiver

Cost to attend the course is R3 500 per person and the dates are November 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20 from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

The course will be hosted at Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Services, 15 Heidelberg Road, corner of Ascot Road, Newmarket Park.
