Losing a great man to a dangerous road

Johan was raised in Eikenhof, south of Johannesburg, by his parents, Boet and Christine Botma.

Johan Botma was not only a kind, full-of-life, carefree, warm-hearted person.

He was also a great father, brother, biker brother, uncle and best friend to many.

Johan was the one you knew would always be there in difficult times. Always there, always willing to listen, help and comfort.

Even with all his tattoos and weird piercings, he had the softest heart I personally have known.

Some of us have known Johan all our lives and his death left a big emptiness in our lives.

Johan was raised in Eikenhof, south of Johannesburg, by his parents, Boet and Christine Botma.

In his early days, Johan started off his career by giving service to our country and worked for Mondeor Police Station for many years.

Johan was boarded from the police service due to a heavy accident while on duty, and after his recovery, Johan repaired cellphones for some major names, such as MTN and Vodacom.

Johan left behind two beautiful daughters, Bianca and Cheze, and four stepchildren he raised as his own.

Johan, at the time of his untimely death, was staying with his sister, Charmaine du Preez, his sister’s child, Jacques du Preez, and his brother, Rassie Botma, in Regents Park, Johannesburg South.

He took Jacques and raised him like his own.

A year ago, Johan joined the Immortal Guardians Bikers family. All of them became Johan’s second family.

His happiest moments were on his bike with the Immortal Guardians family. His family would personally like to thank them for all their support and love during this difficult time.

We would also like to thank the Germiston Bikers Church’s pastor Deon Supara and Nadine Supra, for making the church available for the funeral service and all the backing support.

Integrity Funerals, pastor Peer, without you we would not know what to do. To all the family and friends, thank you for all the messages of support and to those who jumped in and helped in this difficult time for the family.

Appeal to stop unnecessary loss of life

Johan’s close family is taking his loss very hard. His death left a big emptiness in all our lives.

His laughs, his jokes, his life full of energy. We are in desperate need of finding out exactly what happened on the night of August 29.

We still have no confirmed sightings of the alleged Audi that was on site.

We are pleading with anybody with any knowledge to please contact the Alberton SAPS on 011 861 6800.

We know this won’t change anything and won’t bring him back, but we want to help to try prevent these kind of incidents.

Week after week we read sad news about accidents on that stretch of road.

Countless lives lost and a lot of critical injuries could be prevented.
