Santa Shoebox Project opens public pledging for 2019

The public can now start pledging their Santa Shoeboxes and help make a difference to the lives of children throughout South Africa who may not be receiving a gift this festive season.

ONE of South Africa’s best-loved charities, the Santa Shoebox Project, has officially opened public pledging for 2019.

The project, now in its 14th year, collects and distributes personalised gifts of essential items and treats for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia. In 13 years, they have reached more than 850 000 children and this year they hope to add 100 000 to that number.

The public can now start pledging their Santa Shoeboxes and help make a difference in the lives of children throughout South Africa who may not be receiving a gift this festive season. The project has made it incredibly easy to do so.

Simply visit www.santashoebox.org.za pledge your shoeboxes and collect up to four free flat-packed shoeboxes from any of the 50 Stor-Age Self Storage stores nationwide. Fill the shoeboxes with eight items as listed on the website, decorate the box, affix the bar-coded label and then drop it off at locations across the country on specified dates. The Santa Shoeboxes will be delivered to the children in time for the festive season.

Items that are to be included in each shoebox include a toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, soap, toy, outfit of clothing, school supplies and sweets. Donors are also asked to include a reusable bag in which the child can carry the shoebox home.

The public is invited to volunteer and become part of a team that brings smiles to thousands of children every year. For more information on pledging and drop-off locations, visit www.santashoebox.org.za

The Santa Shoebox Project is registered as a public benefit organisation (PBO-930031301) and a non-profit organisation (NPO 102-098).
