City offers awareness to residents for online portal

Customers who were on the old website are urged to re-register to view, manage and pay their municipal accounts conveniently on the new website.

THE CITY’S Finance and Economic Development Department held an open day at Royal School in Leopard Rest Security Estate in Alberton on August 24.

They assisted residents with accounts and services queries, helped them to register on and to navigate the new online service payment system, Siyakhokha.

A resident of Leopard Rest Security Estate, Mxolisi Nchamane, said Siyakhokha will assist him in accessing his account statement on time.

“This will not require me to wait for my account to be posted at the end of the month. This will reduce the need to visit the customer care centre for assistance on accounts,” he said.

Customers who were registered on the old website are urged to re-register to view, manage and pay their municipal accounts conveniently.

The old website www.e-siyakhokha.co.za is no longer in use. Instead, customers will now have to log on to www.siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za and may contact 011 999 5102 for queries.

How it works

After registering on the website, users will be able to receive statements through an SMS, email or view it online.

This will enable residents to view and monitor consumption of water and electricity.

Service-related queries such as water, roads and electricity can also be logged through the website.

The new website, which was upgraded from the old website, has been visited by at least 334 718 people.

The service payment platform hit the 79 165 mark on August 21, two months after its launch in July.

Residents are urged to pay their municipal accounts at either the Customer Care Centres, SPAR, Banks, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Pep Stores, Makro and Builders Warehouse.
