Due to the burst water pipe affecting a large part of Ekurhuleni please note the following as received:
The damaged pipe has not been repaired as yet as repairs cannot take place while water is flowing through the pipes.
There’s a problem with shutting off the supply due to stolen/vandalized valves on the Rand Water pipeline system.
WATER UPDATE: Alberton North and Southcrest are without water until Rand Water completes repairs. Water points are at:

Do not use water for non-essentials at this stage as it’s affecting the reservoir levels and the water pressure.
This repair to the Rand Water pipeline will not be a quick fix as a portion of the Natalspruit has to be diverted as well.
The Alberton Depot is making back up plans which will be communicated once received. Certain fire hydrants in Florentia and New Redruth will serve as open water points.
