ALBERTON SAPS is investigating a case of theft after a pensioner reported being robbed of her valuables.

This comes after a 68-year-old resident was robbed by a bogus in-store employee.

She told the RECORD that while doing her shopping at the Woolworths Food store in Lemon Tree, she was approached by a woman who deceived her into leaving the shop.

She was approached by a young woman who pretended to help her open a pensioner’s discount card.

The elderly woman was then robbed and her handbag was taken. Alberton SAPS spokesperson Capt Manare Ramotshela said: “We are looking for the suspect who was unlawfully involved in taking this elderly woman’s money. As SAPS, we need any assistance from the community regarding this matter. The matter is being investigated.”
