GALLERY: Charity shop hands over certificates to deserving learners

Ons Winkel appreciated a group of learners who voluntarily offered their services in doing community work for the charity shop.

REACHING out to others and lending a helping hand comes in many forms, as five learners from Alberton proved.

On July 8, Ons Winkel thanked the group of learners who volunteered their services by doing community work at the charity shop.

The shop’s representatives handed over certificates of appreciation for the three months’ work done by the group of five learners from Hoërskool Dinamika, Laerskool President Steyn and Hoërskool Alberton.

These learners also worked towards gathering donations for the shop, which were donated on the day.

The learners are Schazelle Roux, Herman Ehlers, Michelle Muller, Cunique Crafford and Schizaane Joubert.

Dedicated resident Sandra Pretoria also received a certificate for volunteering her time at the shop.

After seeing Ons Winkel’s advertisement in the RECORD, the learners volunteered to help around the shop and to collect donations for it.

Frans Burger, co-owner of Ons Winkel, thanked the volunteers for their selfless deeds.

“Through this certificate handover, we wanted to recognise the work done by this group. It warms my heart to see young people making a difference in their community. This group cares about other people’s lives,” he said.

Mariette van de Werken, a regional manager for Gauteng South at Solidarity Helping Hand, also commended the group.

“We are thankful for this group and I believe there are more people out there who also wish to make a difference in other people’s lives. They can contact us on www.helpendehand.co.za or email me at mariette@helpendehand.co.za,” she said.

Cunique Crafford, a Grade Six learner from Laerskool President Steyn, said she enjoyed the volunteer work.

“It was fun to help out. Helping others always puts a smile on my face. I love being around people and making new friends every day,” said Cunique.

Donations are gladly welcome at the shop. To lend a helping hand, contact Frans Burger on 072 690 2030.
