UPDATE: Investigation underway for a body found near Alberton Rugby Club

The Alberton SAPS will register an inquest for investigation following the discovery of a body in the stream just behind Alberton Rugby Club on June 10.

ALBERTON SAPS will register an inquest for investigation following the discovery of a body in the stream just behind Alberton Rugby Club on June 10.

According to CPS Security, the body was discovered early morning after one of their reaction units were stopped by a member of the public who spotted the body in the stream behind Makro.

SAPS and emergency services were alerted about the discovery of the body and attended to the scene.

According to Albert Nkuna, a resident from Spruitview, he spotted the body on his way to work. He told the RECORD that after seeing the body, he tried to contact Alberton SAPS, but eventually alerted CPS Security.

Alberton SAPS spokesperson Capt Manare Ramotshela said: “Our members were assigned to the scene of the crime where an African male’s body was found. Police are investigating the matter and any further information will be communicated with the public.”

The cause of death is unknown at this stage. An update will follow as soon as more information is available.
