International Nurses Day celebrated.

INTERNATIONAL Nurses Day (IND) 2019 had a Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health for All theme.
The day is celebrated worldwide in recognition of the key role nursing staff plays and falls on Florence Nightingale’s birthday, May 12.
Prof Jacques Goosen from the Alberton Netcare Union Hospital encouraged nursing staff to uphold the oath they took when they joined the nursing profession.

“On International Nurses Day we celebrate nurses at large, we appreciate the work they do for the country,” he said.
Furthermore, Goosen told nursing staff they must never lose sight of what drew them to pursue a career in nursing and the meaningful difference they make in the lives of their patients and their families.
Netcare Union Hospital nurses manager Hannelie Swart told the RECORD nurses are the fundamentals of this country and they should be appreciated for the work they do.

“Nurses in general deal with a lot daily, but they continue to save the lives of thousands of South Africans and they do so with passion and love for the profession,” added Swart.
