ON Tuesday, April 9, at about 11.50am Johannesburg Flying Squad police officers arrested one suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on the N12 east between Kliprivier Drive and Comaro Street, Bassonia.
It is alleged that a lookout was given on the police radio by an EMPD officer (SWAT Unit) alerting the police officers to be on the lookout for a white Toyota Quantum traveling on the N12 with about ten occupants in the vehicle, heavily armed.
Warrant Officer Govender and Sgt Naidoo quickly responded and spotted the vehicle driving on the N12. Backup was requested and the vehicle was pulled over. Upon searching the vehicle one unlicensed 38 special revolver pistol was discovered hidden under the driver’s steering wheel. The revolver was confiscated for further police investigation and the driver was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and detained at Mondeor SAPS.
The suspect aged 34 will be appearing in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police members are always working hard and together to provide a twenty four-hour emergency service following information to effect an arrest and react on preventing crime. Police continue working hard to trace drug manufacturing labs and drug lords responsible for supplying drugs in the areas.
