People have different ways of how they would react to an open fire ambush.

ON March 19 a gang of gunmen opened fire on the R21 near Griffiths Road – a wild shootout only metres away from the Griffiths Road bridge near Emperors Palace. The RECORD took it to the streets and asked people “What would you do in an open fire ambush?”

SIPHO MOTHAPO: “Calling the police would be the first thing to do and wait for them to arrive.”
KHUTJO CHUENE: “I would stay calm until the police arrive because trying to act smart can get me injured.”
BONANG SKEI: “The only thing I would do is to make an emergency call and I would not do anything stupid that will get me shot and injured.”
MICHAEL JACOBS: “I would get out and try to get as far away as possible to somewhere safe. Then I will try to phone the police or someone I trust.”
JAMES TLEBA: “I would protect myself and inform the local security.”
NKOSINATHI MKWANAZI: “The sound of shots fired terrifies me and if I were to be in an incident of open fire ambush, I would call the police and find ways to protect myself if I am in danger.”
ROCKEY HAVERLEY: “There isn’t really anything you can do in that situation. I will take cover in my car or under my car.”
