Change a life this winter

Donations can be dropped off at 1 De Waal Street at DVR Properties from 8am to 4.30pm weekdays or at 6 Fourth Avenue in Alberton North.

ALBERTON Community Responders would like to thank the community for their support for the Feed the Poor in Winter Project.

According to Clint Swartz from Alberton Community Responders the woman behind the project is ‘Tannie A’ who is Antoinette Venter from the SAPS Victim Support Unit.

“She is a true legend in helping those in need in Alberton,” said Clint.

Last year Antoinette went out to collect 100 pairs of shoes, but this year she wants to feed needy people in the winter by collecting cup-a-soup.

Donations streamed in and within a week 1 355 boxes were collected.

“This drive is not over. If we can get 1 355 boxes in a week we can get to 3 000 by month end. Imagine that,” said Clint.

“We challenge the community to get behind us as we collect a huge stock pile of cup-a-soup for the winter for those in need and those who will be hungry in winter.”

Donations can be dropped off at 1 De Waal Street at DVR Properties from 8am to 4.30pm weekdays or at 6 Fourth Avenue in Alberton North.
