Suspect arrested for selling drugs in Alberton

The male suspect was arrested with R2000 worth of drugs at the informal settlement on Union Street.

ON February 24 EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members received information about a suspect selling narcotics from the informal settlement on Union Street.

The tip-off turned out to hold merit as the male suspect at the given address was found in possession of 21 full mandrax tablets, two half mandrax tablets and a ziplock bag with dagga in.

The drugs were found hidden in the suspect’s shoes and were seized by EMPD. The drugs have an estimated street value of R2 000. Cash amounting to R130, that was suspected to be proceeds of his illicit dealings, was also confiscated.

The 35-year-old suspect was detained at Alberton Police Station and charged with possession and dealing in narcotics. The suspect was expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on February 25.
