RESIDENTS are complaining about the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) call centre as many have found it impossible to reach anyone at the call centre with the number 086 0543 000.
“The call centre is definitely a problem as 99.999 per cent of the time there is just no answer or absolute silence. No one answers regardless if you press one or two. There is not even music playing. It is just silent and on the odd occasion someone might pick up,” said a resident, who wishes to remain anonymous.
An Alberton RECORD journalist called the call centre on February 6 at 1.45pm and pressed option one to log a new query whereby there was complete silence after the number was pressed. After three minutes and 41 seconds the call was ended by the journalist. The second time the call centre was called, the whole call ended after choosing option two. The calls go as far as: “Your call will be answered by the next available agent.” And that is where everything stops.
“If we want EMM to attend to something or even if we complain to our ward councillors we get asked for a reference number. So what now? Will the problem not be attended to due to the fact that I do not have a reference number,” said the resident.
“This is just unacceptable. I blame it on the incompetent administration because if they cared things will not be falling apart like this. Call centre issues should have been investigated long ago.”
