EMPD arrests nine suspects over two days

EMPD Task Team cracks down on crime.

EMPD’s Public Order Policing Task Team members apprehended seven suspects in the vicinity of Eden Park on January 23.

Working together with SAPS detectives from Eden Park Police Station, the task team arrested the suspects between 12am and 6am.

Two female suspects, aged 27 and 28, were arrested on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Five male suspects, aged between 19 and 46, who were wanted for malicious damage to property and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, were arrested and taken to Eden Park Police Station.

They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon to face their charges.

On January 22 the task team also arrested two male suspects, aged 26, with stolen goods in Elsburg.

The stolen goods were from a housebreak-in earlier that day in the Boksburg area. The goods that the officers recovered includes a plasma TV, a BMX bicycle, chain, a 9kg gas cylinder, a CD player and four large cooking pots. The stolen property was returned to owners.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
