Help SAPS identify this man

“The robber then stole my wallet, which contained R1 200, and my driver’s licence, as well as my two cellphones."

AT around 11pm on January 21, a taxi driver got the fright of his life when, out of nowhere, one of his passengers robbed him at gunpoint.

The driver, Paulus Maseko, tells the story as it happened: “I stopped at the Total fuel station next to The Glen Shopping Centre and picked up a passenger who asked me to take him to Mondeor. So, I did.

“Then, just a few traffic lights away from his destination, close to Mondeor Police Station, he pulled out a gun and held it to my head. He said to me: ‘I’m not going to steal your taxi, but if you don’t cooperate with me now, I will shoot you’.

“The robber then stole my wallet, which contained R1 200, and my driver’s licence, as well as my two cellphones. He took the keys of my taxi and ran off with it, dropping it in the street a short distance away from where he robbed me,” said Paulus.

Paulus immediately went to the nearby police station and a case of robbery was opened. He also went back to the Total fuel station and asked if they could share camera footage with him so he could save an image of the robber.

If you know who this robber is, or have any information regarding this incident, please report to Mondeor Police Station, 263 Royal Park Drive, or call 011 433 5400 immediately.
