Midi-bus emblazoned with City of Ekurhuleni logos impounded

A private midi-bus transporting company employees illegally displaying City of Ekurhuleni logos impounded in Alberton.

ALBERTON Precinct officers patrolling on Voortrekker Road on December 4 around 7.30am in a routine traffic stop were surprised to find a Volkswagen Crafter midi-bus emblazoned with the City of Ekurhuleni logos on its doors.

On the surface the midi-bus resembled a conventional mini-bus taxi. The driver mentioned that he was hired by a Mr Peterson who resides in Springs.

The owner of the midi-bus, in a telephonic conversation with the officers, claimed he bought the vehicle as is and further stated that he sees nothing wrong with the bus displaying the City of Ekurhuleni logos as he was a citizen of Ekurhuleni and attracting business to the city.

The officers were compelled to impound the vehicle to conduct further investigations as well as to verify the claims of the owner who could not even provide the officers with the motor-dealership from which he bought the vehicle.
