Previously convicted suspect arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle

At about 3.20pm a lookout was given to all Brackendowns vehicles patrolling that a Silver Toyota Yaris was stolen on Hennie Alberts Street in Brackenhurst.

BRACKENDOWNS SAPS, in partnership with 4th Dimension Security officers, tracked down a suspect accused of stealing a Silver Yaris on October 10.

At about 3.20pm a lookout was given to all Brackendowns vehicles patrolling that a Silver Toyota Yaris was stolen on Hennie Alberts Street in Brackenhurst. Shortly after the notice was given to officers, 4th Dimension Security officers were in Thokoza searching for the stolen vehicle when they noticed the Yaris, with the correct number plate driving behind them. The security officers made a U-turn which prompted the suspect to do the same. A chase ensued between the officers and the suspect and they called for backup. Brackendowns OCC members joined the chase and together they cornered the suspect at Phola Park robot in Thokoza.

The 49-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The suspect appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on October 11. According to Sgt Lindi Moloi the suspect was in jail previously for a period of 10 years for theft of a motor vehicle.
