Palm Ridge drug dealer arrested

EMPD arrested a suspect which led to the recovery of drugs with a street value of R850 000 in Palm Ridge.

RESPONDING to a tip-off from concerned community members, EMPD Drug Enforcement members raided a house in Palm Ridge on their search for drugs on October 9 at house house on Maybush Street.

Police officers entered the house at about 9am where they found three large blocks of khat, drug substances, and a medium-sized block of the same drug. A male suspect was arrested at the house in connection with the drugs.

While questioning the suspect, EMPD was informed about a “stash house” on Kwanele Street in Katlehong. Police raided the second location where they found more packets of khat. They also found crystal meth. A 38-year-old suspect has been charged with possession and dealing in illicit substance, and is detained at Eden Park SAPS.

The total mass of the confiscated drugs is a 4.2kg with a estimated street value of R850 000. The case has been transferred to the HAWKS to investigate the matter further.

“The metro police appreciates the cooperation of members of public in assisting in efforts to rid our communities of the scourge of drugs, and are urged to keep the tip-offs rolling in,” says chief superintendent, Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.
