AT approximately 10.35am on August 24 Fox Security’s control room received multiple panic signals and telephone calls from clients in Assegaai Street stating there is someone breaking into a house in the street.
Reaction and tactical units responded and were on scene within one minute. Upon arrival, their reaction unit spotted two suspects running out of the house and jumping over the wall at the back of the yard.
One of the tactical officers, Frikkie Whitehorn, approached the suspects’ vehicle when the suspect reversed into him, pinning him between two vehicles and injuring his leg. The officer still managed to apprehend one suspect.
Additional members arrived on scene and while searching the area another suspect was apprehended by a tactical officer two houses away when he was found hiding in the garden. The man had a knife and stolen property from the house in his possession.
Brackendowns SAPS, as well as the Forensic and Trio crime task teams, were on scene.
Whitehorn is currently recovering from his injury.
The suspects are being detained at Brackendowns SAPS.
