JUNIOR Colleges Castillian celebrated World Nature Conservation Day on July 28.
According to Elizabeth Steenkamp, principal, it is necessary to understand what sustainability truly means and also it is important to inculcate environment-friendly habits to lead a green lifestyle.
“Our little ‘conservationists’ assisted in increasing awareness about and protecting the natural resources that the earth is bestowed with,” she said.
Children are born curious. They are interested and excited to know about the natural world and what happens in it. Most of them are also instinctively drawn to animals, especially small, fluffy, cute ones. Using their natural curiosity and love of animals is a great way to teach children about conservation.
Much excitement was displayed while participating in environment awareness activities such as cleaning up our playgrounds, being creative with recyclable materials and using water wisely.
“A special thank you goes to the SAPS dog unit for the phenomenal work they do in our community.”
