Gruesome find of a taxi driver body with head wrapped in a plastic bag

The Thokoza SAPS have commended members of the EMPD Pops Unit following the arrest of four murder suspects, and the recovery of the victim’s stolen Toyota Quantum minibus.

Last Friday, July 6, members of the EMPD’s Public Order Policing (Pops) Task Team were presented with letters of commendation by the Thokoza SAPS management. The commendation notes came as a result of the apprehending of four suspects who are believed to be responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a taxi driver.

The letters were presented to the unit’s commander, Chief Superintendent Julius Mkhwanazi and 11 of his task team members at the Thokoza Police Station by the Acting Station Commander Colonel Chauke. Also present at the ceremony, were Captain Dube and Captain Homu.

On receiving the information of the missing taxi driver and his Toyota Quantum, the metro police worked around the clock to locate the missing taxi driver and his vehicle. The body of the taxi driver was found with its head wrapped in a plastic bag. The stab wounds on the body appeared to have been inflicted by a knife.

The Toyota Quantum was also recovered.
