Probable broken water pipe in Brackendowns leads to clean water wastage

They’ve tried calling councillors and the municipality to resolve the problem, but it’s leading nowhere.

SEVERAL residents from Magalies Street, Brackendowns, have complained about clean water being wasted as it constantly runs down Magalies Street in Brackendowns.

According to residents, this issue has been going on for several weeks. Each resident said that they’ve tried calling councillors and the municipality to resolve the problem, but it’s leading nowhere.

“When I call, I either get put on hold for a long time and the phone eventually dies, or I keep getting referred to other numbers that I must call – an endless game of ‘telephone’ – all while the water keeps getting wasted,” said one frustrated resident.

Another resident said: “I think the problem started when someone hit a pipe when fibre optic cables were being installed. They just never bothered to fix it. The water is pooling up beneath and behind my boundary wall and it just looks horrible. The worst part is that all the clean water is being wasted.”

One of the residents claimed she has been struggling to get a hold of someone who will assist for several days, but nobody is helping.

“I am fed up and I don’t know what to do anymore. Hopefully, if we can get this story in the paper, they’ll take it seriously,” she said.

*EMM was contacted for comment, but the RECORD did not receive any comment at the time of going to press.
