Nurses got spoiled on Nurses’ Day
The Union and Clinton hospitals went all out to spoil their nurses on International Nurses' Day.
THE Union and Clinton hospitals went all out to spoil their nurses on International Nurses’ Day on May 12.
Union Hospital’s reception area was decorated with lots of handmade posters and photo collages. There was also a life-size statue of a nurse with a superhero cape to honour the superheroes of society – nurses.
Nurses gathered with other management staff, where they proudly read aloud their Nurses’ Pledge of Service.
The pledge reads as follows:
I solemnly pledge myself to the service of humanity and will endeavour to practise my profession with conscience and with dignity. I will maintain, by all means in my power, the honour and noble tradition of my profession.
The total health of my patients will be my first consideration. I will hold in confidence all personal matters coming to my knowledge. I will not permit consideration of religion, nationality, race or social standing to intervene between my duty and my patient.
I will maintain the utmost respect for human life. I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour.
After it was read collectively, the nurses sang a beautiful hymn and swayed together in honour of this special occasion. It was touching to witness.
Later that day, the nurses from Union and Clinton hospitals were spoiled with a special lunch. The tables were beautifully decorated where they enjoyed being spoiled, wined and dined.
