4 Hijackers nailed by CPS Security on Michelle Avenue, Alberton

CPS Security responded to an alert in Raceview where four suspects were attempting to hijack a vehicle.

FOUR suspected hijackers were arrested on Jacqueline Avenue after a high-speed chase on April 26.

CPS Security responded to an alert in Raceview where four suspects were attempting to hijack a vehicle. They failed when the victim sent an alert to the security company. The suspects fled the scene in a white BMW.

CPS officers were alerted to the appearance of the hijacker’s vehicle and the direction in which they were travelling.

“The suspects noticed CPS vehicles at the top of Jacqueline Avenue and sped off,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director at CPS Security.

A high-speed chase ensued down Jacqueline Avenue, but it came to an abrupt end at the intersection of Jacqueline and Michelle avenues. Unable to change direction, the fleeing suspects crashed into two vehicles crossing the intersection, a grey Hyundai and a grey Toyota

The suspects lost control of their vehicle and were forced to stop. They tried to make a break for it on foot, but were promptly taken down by the pursuing security officers and were arrested. The suspects were handed over to the police and taken from the scene.

No injuries were reported, but the two vehicles and the suspects’ getaway car were badly damaged.
