Eden Park pastor begs for more food donations

“Whoever can help us will surely be blessed too.”

PASTOR Elizabeth Snyders from Eden Park (referring to the front page article of January 31, titled “Pensioners feed the less fortunate”) is pleading with the community to send more food their way, as there are a lot more people coming to her soup kitchen.

She said: “We have been blessed with even more people who come to our soup kitchen for a meal. These include very old people who need extra TLC. We are desperately in need of food.

Food like potatoes, onions, mealie meal, samp and rice keep their bellies full for longer,” she said.

“I am pleading with the community of Alberton and Eden Park to bless us with these foods. Any kinds of food are welcome. The people who get their daily meals see it as a blessing, and whoever can help us will surely be blessed too.”

FEEDING THE HUNGRY: Some people help themselves to what might be their only meal of the day, at Elizabeth Snyders’ soup kitchen in Eden Park.

Elizabeth says food is not the only resources needed, even though she’s more than happy with simple food donations. “I am also trying my best to find a location close by that is bigger than the soup kitchen at my house, because of more people who come for meals each week. I also help some of these people with transport, and the fuel expenses get too much for me sometimes. But I know God will help us.”

Donations can be dropped off at 5565 Achmat Dangor Street, Eden Park Extension 5, or arrangements for collection can be made with Elizabeth on 079 539 6206. She thanks the community for all their support so far.
