Your views on VAT increase

Do you feel a pinch in your pocket due to the VAT increase?

THIS week the RECORD took to the streets to ask residents if they can feel the pinch in their pocket due to the VAT increase and how it affects their budgets.

BONGANI PHANGISA: “Yes, after spending, looking at the price ranges, it makes a big difference. So, yes, I do feel it when I am attentive to my spending.”
ELINE JORDAAN: “Everything has increased, but our salaries have not increased. At the end of the day you have to adjust your budget and survive on less.”
SANET MC ADAM: “As a manager of weight-loss products, the new VAT increase has no effect on us. In fact, we adapt to it.”
ELIZABETH VENTER: “As a pensioner it is not good at all for me. That one per cent has an effect on our income per month as well.”
CLARISSA DU PLOOY: “Yes, definitely, everything is more expensive as inflation is higher, which affects middle-class households like mine negatively.”
JOHAN PIENAAR: “The income for the average person will be affected by the new VAT increase as it will result in less money to use on purchases.”
