Silwerkroon’s lift broken

THE residents of Silwerkroon Old Age Home in Phantom Street is again without a lift.

“On April 5, the motor of the lift burned out. A woman was inside at the time. She had to be lifted from it and in the process got hurt. As well as getting a huge fright, she also inhaled smoke.

“I have reported it to EMM. The elderly residents are now again left to use the stairs,” said Clr Alderman Bruna Haipel.Last year they received a notice from EMM saying the lift will be out of order for a while due to upgrades and maintenance. The RECORD reported on delays about the repair of the lift on numerous occasions.
