Conversations with a stranger: A beauty therapist and electrologist

This week we caught up with a qualified somatologist and electrologist in the South.

KIMESHA Chetty (29) is a qualified somatologist and electrologist right here in the South who runs her own consultancy called Laser Beautiful.

The young, vibrant Chetty works around the South, providing her services at salons and spas that don’t offer permanent hair removal. She also consults at different rooms in Alberton, Bedfordview and Meyerton.

She uses her own equipment to treat clients.

The proud Southern girl attended Glenview Primary and Bracken High School. After school she attended the SA College of Beauty, Hair and Health where she spent two years specialising in beauty and body therapy. She worked throughout her studies.

She was then placed at our very own Sinzinani Day Spa at Thaba Eco Hotel and the Pyramid Day Spa and Beauty School in Village Deep as well as the Life Day Spa in Rosebank, where she was a senior therapist.

Finding her niche in sales, Chetty left the beauty industry and worked for Thalgo as a sales representative for over a year. Next she decided to be an educational brand trainer in Stellenbosch.

Later the beautician worked at TheraVine for about two years, where she travelled extensively. Being privileged to go to school and college to study beauty, she spent time teaching beauty techniques to housekeepers who were up-skilled to in-house therapists. She found this rewarding.

With nine years of experience, Chetty opened her own salon in October 2017.

“It has always been a dream of mine to start my own business, and beauty is my passion. I started off as a sales consultant and eventually I want to have my own salon and specialise in aesthetics and electrology. I have the latest equipment from Canada which not only does hair removal but also treats the skin,” said Chetty.

Chetty does nails, make-up, facials, massages, reflexology, aromatherapy, waxing and house calls for the sick and elderly. A regular at gym in Glenanda, she has many clients whom she visits in the Comaro region. She also helps with food parcels at Amcare and Cotlands.

Chetty offers free consultations where you can find out more about her services.
