Some flowers should be eaten because they’re good for your health.

HEY kids! Did you ever wonder what it would be like to eat a flower because they’re so pretty? Well, you can. Some flowers should be eaten because they’re good for your health. Here is a list of five flowers you can munch.

SAFFRONS: The filaments (the little stalks inside the flower head that catches the pollen) of a saffron flower can be eaten. It has lots of different vitamins and minerals. In some cultures, saffron filaments are used as anti-depressants (to make people feel happy) and anti-septics (to stop bad bacteria from forming). If you know a pregnant lady, please tell her to stay away from saffron – it might cause problems with her pregnancy.
CHAMOMILES: These flowers are very popular in teas. It can be used to help you get a good night’s rest before school and it can also help with some stomach illnesses. Eat them raw or dry them inside a big, heavy book to make tea later.
VIOLETS: These are such pretty flowers and taste quite nice, too. Violets are used to decorate cakes, salads and cocktails (drinks for adults only). It can be eaten raw or cooked. It helps with headaches, light pain and coughs.
DANDELIONS: These are used in herbal teas and have a lot health benefits. They can be eaten raw, added to salads or made into jam and syrups. If you know an adult who is trying to lose weight, be sure to mention to them that dandelions reduce water retention, making weight loss easier.
