On Monday, February 19 at the Palmridge High Court, Pietropaolo appeared for an urgent bail application he filed after opting to stay in custody at his previous hearing.
Pietropaulo stands accused of murdering his estranged wife, Manuela, at her Brackenhurst home in November last year.

Pietropaulo was set to appear again on March 8, but filed an urgent bail application, but the accused kept everyone waiting.
When the accused finally showed up, the case was simply postponed again to March 1. Manuela’s family was well represented and were set to oppose bail.
One worry was that Pietropaolo has dual citizenship (South-Africa and Italy). The family were not ready to speak with us, but a close family friend says it’s a very tough time for the family and that they want to see justice served for their beloved friend and family member.
A petition, “Justice for Mannie” (Manuela’s nickname) and “No Bail!” was started by Optimystic Bikers Against Abuse and Gigi White from Get Up Woman whose main aim is to combat abuse against women.
“Where is the community outcry?! Bail should not even be considered in a case like this, it’s a waste of everyone’s time. We are fighting for women’s voices to be heard”, said Celeste Louw from Optimystic Bikers.
