- Check your tyres to see if there’s enough tread on them.
- Check that your headlights and brake lights are working.
- Make sure your windscreen wiper blades are in good working order.
- Buckle up.
- Switch on your headlights before leaving home.
- Keep a safe travelling distance between you and the car in front.
- Don’t speed, and slow down before entering standing water.
- Avoid areas where there are known adverse conditions.
- Avoid crossing low-lying bridges.
- Concentrate on the road, not on anything else, such as your cellphone.
