Opening of local rates office

It might be open in the first week of February.

IN November 2017 a gang of burglars targeted the Eden Park EMM rates office and stole computers and cash.

This resulted in the office being closed due to the damage caused by the thieves who cut a big hole in the roof to gain entry.

The residents, especially the pensioners, were then facing a very inconvenient situation because they had to travel by taxi to Thokoza to buy electricity and to pay rates and taxes.

But now, all this can be a problem of the past. Contractors who are now busy with repairs are about to complete their work. According to the senior clerk, Tebogo Seemela, the inconvenience will come to an end.

“The repair work is supposed to be completed by the end of January and EMM had planned to open the office by the first week of February, depending on the contractor. If not open by February 1, it will be open in any week in February. We are aware of the inconvenience experienced by the residents of Eden Park and surrounding areas. Just be patient, things will be ok,” said Seemela.
