M1 highway temporary lane closure

The section between the Killarney bends and the St Andrews Road off-ramp will be affected from 9am to 3pm daily.

MOTORISTS can expect delays due to remedial work on M1 scheduled up until the end of February.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) will undertake work on the M1 highway to accommodate the installation of cables and future services, from January 24.

The construction and repairs will be limited to the centre median barrier on the M1 highway between the Killarney bends and the St Andrews Road off-ramp from 9am to 3pm daily.

The fast lane northbound and southbound will be closed, reducing the number of lanes in both directions from three to two. The lanes will reopen outside the designated time-frames to allow for flow of traffic during peak hours.

Motorists are advised to expect delays during the construction period, to travel at reduced speeds upon entering the construction zone, and to adhere to roadworks signs.

They will need to be vigilant of construction workers on site, and flag persons will be on hand to alert them.
