A 28-year-old man and his girlfriend were hijacked in Rover Street by three armed men while sitting in a car.
It is reported by the police that on December 27 at about 9.30pm three armed men approached the couple and ordered them to move to the back seat. The car was then driven towards Vosloorus and stopped near Thelle Mogoerane Hospital.
The men searched the couple and demanded money which the couple said they did not have. Because the girlfriend had a bank card with her, they drove to the nearest ATM to draw money, however, her account was empty.
It is further alleged in the victim’s statement that the woman was raped by the men and then ordered back into the car after which they where dropped off at an unknown destination near Vosloorus.
According to the man, they walked from to Vosloorus towards Eden Park with nobody stopping to give them a ride, not even the police who passed them at that time of the morning. When they finally got a lift, they only arrived home at 4.30am the next morning.
The car was tracked through a tracking device and found abandoned in a ditch near Vosloorus.
