Stolen Audi recovered in Eden Park

Although the Audi was found fairly intact, its interior dashboard was partially stripped.

ON the morning of January 9, at Auto Pedigree motor dealer in Alberton, three males in a BMW sedan were sighted parked outside this business establishment.

Two of them subsequently alighted from the BMW and entered the motor dealer premises pretending to be interested in purchasing a vehicle. While the salesman was busy showing other clients the vehicles, the two suddenly jumped into one of the vehicles on display, started it and sped off.

The business owner immediately informed the vehicle tracking company and in turn, the tracking company provided the EMPD (Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department) Public Order Policing Unit members with the GPS co-ordinates of the vehicle. Within six minutes of the metro police receiving the notification, the vehicle was located on Detoto Street in Eden Park. The recovery of the stolen burgundy Audi hatchback happened at 10.30am The vehicle was reported stolen around 9.40am

Although the Audi was found fairly intact, its interior dashboard was partially stripped. It was found abandoned.

Information at the disposal of the police regarding the suspects and their BMW is being used in an effort to bring the culprits to book.

SAPS forensics team was summoned to the scene before the recovered Audi was taken to SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for further investigations and safe-keeping.
