VIDEOS: A gift to those who touch lives

Stepping Stone Hospice in Alberton has helped more than 900 patients pass in dignity since their inception in 2013.

STEPPING Stone Hospice has a lesser load to carry thanks to West Pack Lifestyle and a loyal supporter of theirs.

On December 12, Stepping Stone received a cheque for R10 000 after Tracy-Lee Manning selected them as her charity of choice to receive the money as part of a competition West Pack Lifestyle is running.

The competition, running until December 23, gives their customers the opportunity to win their share of R500 000 in cash prizes and another R500 000 in cash to be donated to their favourite registered non-profit organisations for every R200 spent in-store.

Tracy-Lee Manning, who shopped at West Pack Express Ridgeway store, won R10 000 in cash and opted to give Stepping Stone Hospice the other R10 000 as it is an organisation very close to her heart.

“I admire the work, the care and the love that happens here and I am truly thankful for Tersia and her team, who touch so many lives,” said Tracy-Lee.

Tracy-Lee first became enamoured with Stepping Stone after a touching speech by their CEO, Tersia Burger at the social club for ladies at Café la Plume in Glenanda earlier this year.

Since then, Manning and her mom Vernice, often cater for Stepping Stone’s functions free of charge, drop off meals for patients at the organisation’s in-patient unit, as well as encouraging their coffee shop patrons to donate second-hand goods to Stepping Stone’s The Charity Shop.

Stepping Stone Hospice in Alberton has helped more than 900 patients pass in dignity since their inception in 2013, providing high-quality specialist care to people whose conditions no longer respond to curative treatment; from diagnosis to death.

“We are so grateful for this amazing gift. It has been a very tough year and this is just so special, I am so happy,” said a tearful Tersia Burger, CEO of Stepping Stone Hospice, the creator and driving force behind Stepping Stone.

“Tracy’s win is an acknowledgment by a higher power of her kindness and generosity of spirit. This couldn’t have happened to a more giving person. I truly feel that this is Tracy’s reward for all the good she does and continues to do for us and others,” she added.
