Fundraiser-dinner raised over R33K

"A big thank you to everyone who supported us – may God bless you abundantly!”

A FUND-RAISER DINNER was held at the Meyersdal Eco Estate Clubhouse on November 18. It was a big success with R33 100 raised in aid of the three Umephi Children’s Homes.

There are three Umephi Children’s Homes: the first one is in Meyerton (housing nine children), the second is in Vereeniging (housing ten children) and the third one is in Vanderbijlpark (also housing ten children).

Unfortunately, the government is not supporting them with social grants and therefore Umephi relies solely on donations from community members and fund-raisers to keep them afloat. This dinner cost R350 per guest and there were 100 guests.

BEAUTIFULLY SINGING: Britney Meistre was one of the singers for the evening. She sounded angelic.

It was an elegant evening with twinkly lights and orchid centrepieces which brought a touch of beauty to the venue. On stage various entertainment was offered, which included gospel singing and hip-hop dancing.

Britney Meistre and her singing colleague, Tineke Pienaar who also played the piano beautifully, charmed the audiences whilst singing gospel and melancholic songs in their lovely voices. Wade Manning, the male singer of the evening, got the party going properly as he entertained the audience with more upbeat songs. There were also three female dancers in funky attire who performed some stunning hip-hop dance routines.

GROOVY MOVES: The hip-hop dancers had all eyes on them as they showed off their groovy moves.

In between the entertainment, guests helped themselves to a delicious dinner of spitbraai and assorted salads. Afterwards, there was coffee with finger-snack desserts of cupcakes and mini tarts. It was a delightful and musical evening.

DANCING ENTERTAINMENT: The audience was captivated by the hip-hop dancers’ brilliant moves.

“We are really happy with how the event turned out,” said Sonya Meistre who helped with the arrangements. “It would have been nice to make even more money to donate to the homes, but we are more than happy with this generous amount raised. A big thank you to everyone who supported us – may God bless you abundantly!”

BEAUTIFUL VENUE: The room and tables were filled and decorated beautifully.
