Alberton resident enthuses about 3D printing

Dayne takes great pride in the items that he creates and says he prints new items as often as he gets new ideas, which is very often.

DAYNE Becker, a Verwoerdpark resident, has a passion for 3D printing. He held an enthusiastic conversation on the topic with the RECORD on Thursday, November 9.

Dayne (29) has been living in Alberton for the past five years. His day job, apart from designing and doing draftsman work, is being a foreman/manager in Alrode.

His main passion is, above all, to keep his wife, Amorette, happy. She means the world to him and he loves her more than anything else.

WORKSTATION: This is Dayne’s workstation where he designs and prints items in 3D. Next to his computer screen are a few tidbits that he’s printed.

“My wife is my inspiration. She is crazy full of life and just brings out the best in me,” Dayne said.

After his wife, his passions are 3D printing and angling.

Dayne takes great pride in the items he creates. He prints new items as he gets new ideas, which is very often.

Popular items include high-quality personal gifts, gears and calibration cubes.

“I really enjoy manufacturing unique products and prototypes, too,” he added. “I also enjoy the design process and creating something totally unique from my imagination. That makes it very rewarding.”

What Dayne is most proud of is that he designed, printed and assembled all the parts needed to make his very own 3D printer. In terms of his hobby, he says this is his biggest achievement.

However, he is a man of various hobbies and skills. When he is not 3D printing or fishing, he and Amorette like to go camping together, hiking and trying new, exciting things.

SELF-MADE: This orange 3D printer was designed and created by Dayne himself, using the 3D printer next to it.

“A person who wants to be successful in life must be positive, hard working and able to adapt to any circumstances,” he said. “My advice to the world is to work hard and never give up, but to always have fun, too.”

Perhaps you can show your appreciation of Dayne’s cool 3D printing skills by giving him a call and requesting an item (at a fee, of course). It can be anything, as long as it’s not too big.
