Bracken High School’s top achievers

The Bracken High School Academic Honours evening took place a day later on October 19.

BRACKEN High School recently celebrated its top achieving students in sports as well as academic categories.

On October 18, at the annual Sports Honours evening, Branden Matsila walked off with the sportsman of the year trophy for his achievements in athletics and soccer, while Akua Gyebi took the sportswoman of the year trophy for her achievements in athletics, netball and touch rugby.

The Bracken High School Academic Honours evening took place a day later on October 19, where Akua Gyebi was named Dux Scholar for her academic achievements. Akua excelled in her subjects, notching up an average of 89 per cent, taking the subject awards for English (85 per cent), maths (91 per cent), physics (94 per cent) and accounting (92 per cent). Akua received the prestigious Achiever of the Year Award for her academic and sports achievements for 2017.

“Congratulations Akua, Bracken High School is extremely proud of you,” said Graham Dinkelman from the school.

“Bracken High would also like to congratulate its new head leaders for 2018,” he added.
