CPS thanked officers

CPS and SAPS arrest suspect.

DURING a routine patrol on September 29 in the Brackenhurst area, one of CPS Security’s reaction units was flagged down in Estelle Street by a security officer working for Laerskool Orion.

“He requested assistance as there was an unknown male who had just attempted to break into the primary school. Our reaction units gave chase and the man was swiftly apprehended in Agapantus Street, a few streets away from the school,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director.

The suspect was taken back to the scene and Brackendowns SAPS was contacted. Constables Riaan Venter and Sibusisu Mbhalati arrived within minutes to assist. The suspect was searched and several bags of narcotics were found in the suspect’s possession. It was also discovered that the same suspect had broken into Kenton Primary in Holzgen Street a few days prior where items were stolen from the property.

CAUGHT: CPS Security assisting SAPS with the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody and a case of possession of narcotics and attempted break-in was opened and the suspect was linked to another case which was a business break-in that occurred in Holzgen Street.

“We encourage the public to please send us as much info when it comes to crime-related issues in the area via our Facebook page. We managed to link the suspect to a business break-in due to the fact that it was shared on Facebook. The more eyes and ears we have the better. Also a big thank you to Riaan and Sibusisu for responding within minutes and assisting us,” Tyrone said.
