High school learners found with dagga and knives

Children need to understand and realise that they hold their own futures in their hands.

A SURPRISE school search was executed at Eden Park Secondary School on August 17 which caught all learners off-guard.

The school search was conducted by Eden Park SAPS under the leadership of Sergeant Mita Badi, Sergeant Esther Khoza, correctional services, EMPD, patrollers and SAPS from different stations.

“We arrived early at the school lead by Lloyd Phiri of the district (Gauteng Department of Education). In our search we found eight boys with knives and dagga in their possession. Many other learners had cigarettes in their school bags,” Badi said.

It was further reported by Badi that the eight boys were taken to Eden Park SAPS where they were given verbal warnings and cautioned about carrying dangerous weapons at school.

“The learners were reprimanded and given a short lecture on drug abuse. They sure did disappoint their parents and teachers. Furthermore, they can destroy their future and dreams of achieving something in life so they need to understand and remember this,” Badi said.
