SPCA brags about new isolation kennels

They thanked all of their sponsors.

AT long last the Alberton SPCA isolation kennels are nearing completion with only the final fencing gates to be finished.

“We have started to make use of them and our first inmate was a large black stray Labrador who was collected a few hours later by her relieved owners,” said Vanja Ingold, SPCA member.

These new kennels have only been made possible by the generous donations of companies and individuals such as: Garth Bentley (Polifilm SA), Caroline Jones, Peter Manelis (Nevada Construction), Carol Marneweck (Master Maths Consolidated), Curry and All, Johan Louw (Delfos Construction), We Sell Steel and Vincent Carbis (Devin Signs and Camawa SA ). “We also received other anonymous donations for which we are grateful. If we have missed mentioning anyone please accept our sincere apologies,” Vanja said.

BRAND NEW: Pets who carry diseases can now be housed away from other pets.

These kennels are a fantastic addition to the SPCA as it means dogs admitted to the SPCA suspected of carrying distemper, parvo or similar potential killer diseases, can be housed away from the majority of other ‘residents’, including pets awaiting adoption and pets in their boarding kennels.

“By doing this we will greatly reduce the chances of contamination and the spread of disease, thus saving more animals from an untimely end. This will allow us, at last, to enlarge some of the existing kennels. It will improve conditions for the many dogs in our care by giving them more personal space.

In addition, we have created a grass area so we can walk the dogs safely and they can be let off their lead to have a bit of a run around,” Vanja concluded.

The SPCA receives no government funding – we have to rely on the generosity of the local community and companies to make these projects a reality, so we thank you unreservedly for all your help.

Please remember we have SMS lines where you can easily donate – SMS ‘Puppy’ to 39969. An SMS costs R15. SMS ‘Kitten’ to 38844. Such an SMS costs R10. Why not get a ‘My Planet’ card and nominate Alberton SPCA as the beneficiary? It’s quick and easy too and doesn’t cost you a cent.

“Thank you in advance for your support. Alberton SPCA really appreciates and is totally reliant on the support we receive from our community as we continue to fight on behalf of the voiceless,” Vanja added.
