Senior citizens receive blankets

The senior citizens were first served food, followed by warm blankets which brought smiles to the wrinkled faces.

SENIOR citizens of the community were delighted when they were invited by the AFM Church to receive blankets to protect them from the cold weather whizzing around.

The new leader of the church, pastor Johannes “Kobie” van Weren, is a man who strongly believes that a leader must work for the church and also for his community. He has a strong affinity with senior citizens and thus organised the special occasion.

The blankets were supplied by a youth leader from Meyersdal, Melissa Havenga. The senior citizens were first served food. Then they received the warm blankets, which brought smiles to many of the wrinkled faces.

“Kobie is here,” repeated by pastor Johannes van Weren. He also said: “This is our blanket drive, which will be repeated annually as long as I am here. I thank everyone, as well as our sister church in Meyersdal, for coming.”
