WATCH: Giving back on Mandela Day in Alberton and the South

Mandela Day is dedicated to encourage South Africans to spend 67 minutes of their time doing something for a worthy cause.

To commemorate Mandela Day, people in Alberton and the South have dedicated 67 minutes of their time to make a difference in their communities.

Imperial Tipper Resources spent their 67 minutes with The Lighthouse.

They donated groceries, toiletries and nappies to The Lighthouse in Linmeyer

The Lighthouse Centre in Linmeyer is a non-profit organisation that will cater for the underprivileged intellectually challenged children and adults through its stimulation centre and its highly trained staff who provide personalised and professional care.

An Alberton library member decided to give back by teaching children how to play with different toys and puzzles on Mandela day.

Donations are slowly pouring in after the CHRONICLE and the COURIER nominated Door of Hope as the beneficiary for this year’s charity proceeds from Mandela Day.

The caring and devoted staff of Door of Hope provide a temporary Christian home for all babies and children while seeking a forever family, suitable long-term foster care or other permanent care for each one so that they may grow up to be people who have a positive effect in South Africa and the world.
