  1. A DYNAMIC young woman from the South is making a splash in DIY (Do It Yourself) circles and doing so with style.

Elle Franco is a presenter, producer, voice-over artist, actress and model, to name just a few of the titles she can proudly claim as her own.

The 33-year-old Alberton resident took time out of her busy schedule to speak to the COURIER about her steady rise to stardom.

Currently, Elle is one of the presenters of television show, Home Made Easy and has her own YouTube channel called “DIY with Elle”, showing people how to do those wonderful things we are often too afraid to tackle ourselves.

“I love empowering people and showing especially women that they can do these things that seem almost impossible to them at times,” says Elle passionately.

Elle grew up in Alberton and in spite of being a larger-than-life type of person, who is almost impossible to imagine in anything other than show business, her initial career choice was a far cry from where she finds herself now.

Having completed her studies in psychology, but finding she felt uninspired, her ‘eureka moment’ came after winning a television show competition named Meet the Fan, where she met recording artist, Danny K. “I was completely captivated by the presenter, camera crew and everything going on around me. I suddenly just knew that I wanted to be involved with all of this,” Elle recalls.

“I must admit, it hasn’t been easy. People usually think it’s all glitz and glamour, but they don’t see all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. I’ve worked for years on building a career in entertainment, often taking unpaid jobs, but I would say it’s all worth it because I get to do what I love,” says Elle.

On the future, Elle seems to have big plans and says she wants to build on her career and get more involved in helping and inspiring others.

“I have a passion for so many things and I want to incorporate many of those things into one all-encompassing brand – casting, DIY, travel, fashion, and so on,” she adds.
