Church does blanket and food drive

Everyone from the crowd was served a sumptuous meal and then given a blanket to take home.

HAPPINESS and jubilation were the order of the day on Saturday, 10 June at the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Church. The congregation and community members were invited to a blanket and food drive.

The event named “Blanket and Food Drive” was organised by the Eden Park AFM church and Elohim Meyersdal Congregational Church.

The church premises were filled with many members of the community and those of the congregation. Young and old were entertained with music by a youth band which had many dancing, laughing and enjoying the sunny morning atmosphere.

Everyone from the crowd was served a sumptuous meal and then given a blanket to take home. The event brought smiles to many recipients who expressed their gratitude towards the church and Pastor Johannes “Kobie” van Weren and his partner in ministry, Pastor Jeremy Errayah.

“I have said it before when I arrived in Eden Park that I am here to serve my church and the community of Eden Park. Kobie is here. What we have done today, we hope, with God’s grace, we will do annually. We are thankful to Melissa Havenga, the youth leader from Meyersdal, for organising and making the blankets available for the people,” said the excited Pastor Johannes van Weren.
